Yesterday was a dull day.  I got up, ate breakfast, and went to work with dad.  At work I tried to go outside on my own but got scolded and promptly returned inside, then later there was even a gate put up to keep me inside.  As the end of the day approached, I got a little excited to go home.  So I hopped in the truck when the door opened... and got buckled up.  Yep, this was going to be a dull ride too.
Turns out we weren't going home. Instead we went to my friend Quinn's house.  Yay!  I couldn't wait to get chased around.  Quinn was too busy to play but dad did occasionally peel himself away from the other humans to play with me.  Eventually I gave up and just lay in dad's lap and then later behind him on the couch.  Being close to dad always makes me happy.  I feel safe and loved.
After some time, dad was finished his game.  All the humans were putting away all their things away, that was a good signal we were about to head home.  Instead of going outside though, dad went into a new room.
In that new room there was a cage with two unidentified animals.  I was terrified and confused.  Dad seemed unconcerned as he reached in the cage and drew one of the creatures out.  As I watched from a distance, he just held it in his arms and pet it.  I eventually steeled myself enough to come close and sniff it.  The creature didn't smell or act dangerous, so I gave dad my ok.  He then brought out the other for me to sniff.  As I watched these animals, I circled their cage.  I sniffed at them and coaxed them to the edge of the cage to check them out better.  I found that as I watched them and sniffed them more, I became intrigued with these animals.  In fact I was downright curious about them.  I tried to play through the bars of the cage but dad wouldn't let me touch the cage with my paws.  I hope to some day get to play with one face to face, the bars of a cage are too limiting.  So I did what any kid would do; I asked dad if I could have one.  Dad in turn did what every kid's father would do; he said "we'll have to ask your mom."
Maybe next time I'll be able to tell you I have a bunny for a pet.

Ah swimming. 08/20/2011

I love to swim; but there's a catch.  I won't swim for the sake of swimming.  I will only swim if there is an object of interest to swim for, like a stick or some other floating toy my humans throw for me.  My favorite spot to do this is at Pioneer Park.
On Thursday it was different.  My dad was doing some crazy thing with his human friends called "D20 life" so he was busy most of the day.  He did however take me with him on one adventure to a friend's house.  I'd been there before, but this was different.  Dad and his friends were outside, and were playing in a small lake.  It was weird, like it was surrounded by a dock.  They did however have a large red BALL!  Oh, it was unfair, I wanted that ball.  They kept it away from me as much as they could but sometimes it would come to the edge where I could just about reach it.  I couldn't let them have all the fun, so I jumped in after it.  It was much harder to try and grab while in the water, so I had to climb out to try again.
Climbing out was only easy at the stairs, the edges were too high, except at one spot where there was one very tiny step between shiny metal posts.
Well, I kept trying to get the ball, and sometimes the humans would throw it across, and I could almost get around before they got to it.  Other times they would pass it to me, but it was too big for me to catch, though I tried.  I ended up jumping in after quite a few times.  I was never successful at getting it. Until....
All six humans eventually got distracted trying to get into a small boat, so I seized the opportunity to try to capture the ball.  When it was close enough I carefully grabbed it and stole it from the water.  Once I had the ball, I retreated to safety on the grass and played while the humans were busy.  It was the end of a wonderful adventure.

A New Smile 08/20/2011

I'd like to start this blog with a warning: It isn't happy.

Almost two weeks ago, I was taken to the doctor.  I didn't know at the time for why, but my dad was overly concerned.  Mom dropped me off, she said my teeth were going to be cleaned and it would freshen my breath.  What she didn't tell me is that I was going to be asleep while this was being done.
After the doctor stabbed me with a needle, I became very tired and eventually fell asleep...
When I woke up, there were a lot of things I noticed.  My left leg was missing a patch of fur and it hurt a little where a small hole was.  I also noticed my entire mouth felt different, and there was pain in new places.  I swished my tongue around and quickly realized two things: My teeth were very clean, and some were missing!?!
IN FACT, 10 WERE MISSING!  One of my large teeth at the back of my mouth, and 9 of my front teeth between my long ones were missing.  From now on, whenever I smile, it will be very different.

Beach Fun 08/08/2011

So Saturday my humans took me for a truck ride, which is usually boring but not all that bad, this time was different. After I got settled in, mom started wrapping something around me, it was an awkward and unfun experience.  To make it worse, once it was fully on I found out it was a harness, with a clip that attaches to the seat belt, so now I was buckled in.  I can only assume it was for testing purposes, but mom would pick me up and lunge me toward the dash.
Anyways, enough about that.  I want to tell you about the beach.  I was taken to a very small park near I think I overheard Sorrento.  It has everything I need in a park though, grass, sand, and water.  We were there for hours, I got to swim whenever I wanted, dig in the sand, chase and chew on sticks (although mom and dad kept stopping the chewing).
Three major highlights to my day.  During one of my swims I went way out for my ball but when I got it and turned around Dad was there and he caught me.  Then he swam us to the dock and we hung out on it for a while.  It tended to move a little more than I like but it was an experience all the same.  Getting back to shore was tricky as the dock was too high for me to jump from but dad was nice enough to place me in the water.
The second highlight was when dad joined me digging.  He's not very good at it but he tried, so I helped him when he got stuck, until he tricked me.  He had dug a shallow hole longer and wider than me and got me to lie down...then started to cover me in sand.  I tried to leave but he's too strong, he held me down until my entire body was buried. There was so much sand on top of me I couldn't move, so mom took pictures and videos, it's so embarrassing.
Last but not least, I got to see an eagle.  Not only did I watch the eagle flying by, but I got to see it bomb some kids in the water with his big dead fish.  It was hilarious.  Dad missed out, but mom and I got to see the funny show.  That was my fun at the beach.
